You’re very gifted..the feeling of your artwork is the kind that I aspire to create but somehow lives more in my head than on my canvasses..I feel a shift at the midway point of this year that also encompasses much of what you spoke of, tuning in more, grounding, hearing more of what my soul is craving for the remainder of this year. I’m also approaching a very important birthday (my 65th…unreal) in October so it’s time to settle, to ground..I may have to dig up my Tibetan Buddhism books to remind me of what this life is about..Happiest Birthday and thank you for sharing such beautiful artwork and videos❤

Best decision ever: to stop following media, watching TV - did it in May 2020. Staying with YT and with X to from time to time check on it what's REALLy is happening. I am 64 and I tell my daughters, who are in their 30s, that there is so much to look forward to. I believe as a woman in her 40s there is so much opportunity to exercise acquired confidence, further define self and acceptance, as well as take thoughtful and strategic risks. Life is a series of zigs and zags! It’s also a time to refine what you like as well as what you don’t like. You go girl. P. S. Saw your vid with you and your Dad. Beautiful. It seems like the earlier pieces are of animals and flowers and your later collection is more abstract. Is there a backstory you would be willing to share? Lovely irises! Mine are about to bloom …..deep deep purple. I take them for granted as I’ve always grown them. Now I will appreciate them more as you don’t have that luxury. Funny how cats tend to like to hang out on whatever project you’re working on. My Lily likes to sit on my fabric squares for the new quilt I’m making. Love your videos and watching you create. Hi Jess. I SO love your videos. You inspired me to take a sumi-e painting class at the Denver Botanical Gardens last week. I’ve been loving it as a meditation! Thank you. . . I’m a fellow Zen practitioner of 30 years (Suzuki is also my Zen grandfather) and practice contemplative painting too. As a serendipitous moment, I read this poem by the amazing Mary Oliver for the first time this morning. So perfect to share with your video. . . Praying by Mary Oliver It doesn’t have to be the blue iris, it could be weeds in a vacant lot, or a few small stones; just pay attention, then patch a few words together and don’t try to make them elaborate, this isn’t a contest but the doorway into thanks, and a silence in which another voice may speak. (Shared by a younger woman Zen teacher and poet this morning in a Buddhist Film and Arts workshop this morning in Boulder.) Lovely to feel the joy of practice as speaking from another voice together. . . So appreciate your videos. They always make me want to go paint!
